A homepage or blog makes sense for everyone

I’m not an SEO professional myself and I built my website myself. As you can see, this is a WordPress blog. Especially if you have a club, a hobby, a small ancillary business or an MLM business (candles, food supplements, jewelry, make-up etc.), in short, you are a small business owner, I would definitely recommend a blog. Why?

You can share videos online that you already have on Youtube. Many also have their videos and lives on Facebook. However, they are collected on a blog and can be sorted by topic at any time. With a blog you have additional reach in the WWW with the right SEO-optimized texts. You can share recipes and go into special topics that interest your fans and build a community for you. Keyword: newsletter. You can then rearrange these topics for your Facebook channel and you have already created an idea base for recycling. You can continue to build your small business on this. Plus, it goes both ways. You get comments on Facebook and can then use them to write new pages and posts for your homepage.

The posts in social networks, on the other hand, are quite short-lived and your profile could be blocked at any time. With a blog you have something sustainable that belongs to you. A written text stays on the internet and ranks for your keywords. This means that the working time for writing a text pays far more than spending hours on Facebook looking for customers. You can reach new interested parties in German-speaking countries or internationally. Of course, you can also do local SEO and establish yourself as a small, fine brand. Google Maps and company entries are the key here.

Why does a blog / homepage make sense?

  • Your content ranks on the internet for your keywords.
  • Building a community through a newsletter and subscription.
  • more efficient use of working time in the creation of meaningful content. Helpful content and exciting topics are shared, e.g.
  • Fund for sharing and recycling topics and content for your own social media channels.

Classic excuses are:

  • I don’t have time to blog at all.
  • I don’t know what to write there.
  • Constantly thinking up new topics is really exhausting, etc.

The fact is that 1 hour of working time also means lifetime presence on the www. The content can be expanded, shared and improved. A post in social media is forgotten in a few hours. Social media may be valuable for expansion and customer loyalty. However, this does not replace a homepage. Even if you are an ordinary consultant or self-employed in MLM, you can still market yourself. Create your own content and rank with it. Recipes, experience reports, report on your events. Show the products in action. Convey symathy via YouTube videos that you embed in your posts. You can also link your shop page. These shops usually have ugly endings and barely noticeable names. Here, catchy anchor texts are simply a hit.

Everything starts with Google – Get started with Google

Your most important first entry should always be on Google itself .

  • Google my Business ,
  • Google Maps and Google Places

are absolute must haves. There is no discussion about that. No! These entries must be completed in any case.

https://business.google.com

Here you have the opportunity to post products, offers and events. To write articles about news, events … whatever … You have a first impression of your sales products directly in the Google search. Madness! Quasi a small online shop or better a first picture to draw attention to your range.

A little info on the side: Google my Business offers a free homepage in its portfolio, which you can also use together with other features. In combination with the basic entries, this is already completely filled out and only needs to be activated. It works in one go and you don’t have to worry about anything.

I said online shop at the beginning. Now if you have entered a telephone number or an email address, the first order can be placed. All of this without a classic shop.

Here as an example: ht tps hindberry-fruit wine-eu. business. site

The ending is not very nice with * .business.site but it is a start. This mini gimmick in the form of a basic homepage could be absolutely sufficient for very small companies. With a link to the company entry at the WKO you have already complied with the legal notice. How it looks with data protection is another question. Unfortunately, this homepage solution should not be GDPR-compliant according to the latest status, which is a shame.

As I said it is a basic entry to start. You can already share this page on social networks and with friends. With a little luck, the first orders will come in.

In phase 2 you can then take care of a more professional solution. However you do it now, my SEO guide refers to the ranking of this professional homepage, which should get traffic and a high pagerank on Google.

The local guides in Google Maps are also nice to know: https://support.google.com/local-guides/answer/6225851

There are points for evaluating regional and local entries and you become a local guide. From level 6 (approx. 150 reviews) your authority increases and your own Google Maps entry increases. This brings further advantages on-the-long-run and is not acquired overnight.

At the beginning, however, the reviews for your entry that your customers will hopefully write to you are more important for you. Every review will help you get started! So here too, sharing and passing on helps. There is also a tool to make things go faster. Simply enter your business and forward the link to friends and acquaintances. https://whitespark.ca/google-review-link-generator/

Incidentally, various reviews of Herold etc. are also compiled in your Google Business entry. To get the Google Maps entry, you have to apply for it. This then takes a few days and you will receive the code in the mail. If you have registered a trade or an association and are officially qualified to act as managing director, it is absolutely necessary to be listed.

What does the Google entry bring?

  • just everything! It is the holy grail of all entries and a must have. Google has the highest priority of all entries.
What do you do if you have changed something on the homepage or have created new pages, blog posts or subpages? Yeah right! Let Google index the change . Because you want the new page to be found by searchers soon.
To do this, call up the Google Webmaster Tools , which are now called Google Search Console . Request indexing or index new page. Here you can store your sitemap, i.e. the structure of your homepage. The Googlebot crawls websites that are indexed anyway at more or less regular intervals and automatically transfers changes to the Google index.
In theory, you don’t need to do anything and it will take care of itself. But it takes between hours, days and weeks. It is often helpful and wise to always assign new pages to a crawl loop. This is how the bot knows that there is something new and crawls your page because this action has priority. It also always makes sense to share new posts and pages via social media, Facebook and Twitter, as the link to this page is then published and distributed.

SEO for my company

By the way, you will also find other useful tools here. For example, you will be shown which search term was used to access your homepage. You can also see which pages of your homepage have been opened and viewed particularly often, etc. All of this helps with further free search engine optimization in Google.

From here on it’s down to the nitty-gritty: register your homepage in directories

Yellow pages and the business entries of your community are also indispensable first link sources to get started. Herold, Who delivers what, Quick search or whatever their name may be.

  • Business directories of all kinds
  • Youtube and various video portals
  • Instagram
  • Pinterest but also Tumblr and Deviantart
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Comments on blogs with relevant topics
  • Cooking pages with recipes
  • Online newspapers
  • PR directories and articles
  • Reddit, Quora and the like
  • Forums
  • and and and

Depending on who and what you are, there are other options: clubs, e.g. forums for sports, sportswear, etc. Vegan networks, blogs, recipes. Beauty, fashion. Insert music and speech into various portals for artists, music and audio books.

Over time you will find more and more possibilities where you can register. Some entries are free, others are subscriptions for several months. Since our guide refers to search engine optimization for small businesses, backlinks are primarily free, and of course do-follow links are important to us. And pages with a high DA (= domain authority) are important to us.

From here on you should see it as a marathon. These suggestions are by no means exhaustive. You don’t have to rush it. Make a plan to regularly create profiles and register yourself. You don’t have to be everywhere either. There are countless SEO gurus who provide you with further possibilities for backlinks. There are instructions on youtube and there are guides on this.

Free backlinks

Search engine optimization made easy with free backlinks. Here I have copied one of countless backlink lists for you:

https://www.themen-blog.de/50-backlinks-liste-seo-guide/

A few terms are explained in advance and at the end you will find a list with various backlink sources. Of course, it is advisable to enter the website manually in addition to Google also on Bing and Yandex. How this works is described on various websites: https://seo-summary.de/homepage-bei-suchmaschinen-anmelden/

For newbies, the whole topic can be very tough and overwhelming at first. What should i do? Work through a whole list? Where can I find pages to enter and do I really need all of this?

Then there are technical terms that you have never heard of. SEO is learning by doing. That’s why you can start with search engine optimization with small steps and then increase. And: SEO never stops. You can always make improvements. You can only do one thing wrong, namely do nothing.

A very helpful video contribution from a WKO seminar. We also want to bring in some educational entertainment: Alexander Rus from Evergreen Media.

You can find more well-explained videos by Alexander Rus on his YouTube channel and more useful help on his homepage. There is something for every SEO topic and you will find out what is really important in search engine optimization without trying it out yourself for a long time. The disadvantage is that you should take 14 days to look through all the videos.

=> As you can see, this is exactly what a successful backlink strategy could look like. You have good content that others like to share on their pages (voluntarily). Then you’ve done everything right and passively receive additional links.

What about backlinks? Yes they are important. Comments, entries and links of all kinds. Because they lead both internet users and Googlebots on your trail.

Are you registered in (free) business directories ? It does not usually cost anything to do business listings. But it is crippling and time-consuming to register in the various portals. Set a limit, one entry per day or 5 entries per week, etc. Then you will have built up enough backlinks to get you started in a month without spending more than 10 minutes a day. But stay tuned and stick to this routine.

Of course you are not always motivated to do that. But when the opportunity arises, ALWAYS link your page. Instead of your home page, use the sub-pages, blog posts, profiles on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Xing, LinkedIn, Youtube and many other platforms to set up links and further links.

Would you like to have your backlinks indexed as quickly as possible? Clear. That works pretty quickly. Let Search Console crawl the page where the backlink was just positioned with the test page for mobile view . Voila! Then Google has it in its own index.

Allegedly this should work „faster“ than waiting for it to happen on its own. As a rule, backlinks are recognized between a few days and several months and only have an impact on your ranking after weeks. Even Google itself probably doesn’t know exactly about this topic, since indexing takes place continuously, but not every page and subpage is regularly crawled. The subject is very complex. However, if you create your own content, import it into Search Console (indexing requested) and then search for it, it can happen that this page already appears in the search. It can work very quickly depending on the load on the bots.

The value of links

Quora, Reddit, Tumblr and many other platforms offer the possibility of high quality backlinks . However, during links follow and nofollow attributes are set . You cannot influence that with foreign websites. This means that not every link and backlink is necessarily of high quality and of direct benefit to you.

However, it is also the sum here, because a lot helps a lot. There is always the chance that someone clicks on a link and gets to your profile or your homepage. And the stronger your page is linked on the Internet, the more important it appears to the search engines. This also builds trust and is important.

Do you have valuable backlinks ? This point is important. Very important. Study the backlink test tool . Check out your competition. Look at many different pages and look for possible link sources with a value of 1-3.

The scale for this tool ranges from 1 (excellent) to 6 (insignificant). Tries to get a backlink on high quality sites. That won’t be that easy, because these pages often don’t allow comments or you have to be linked by the owner of the page himself. But asking does not cost anything if your homepage fits the topic of another page.

Often it is also newspapers and homepages on certain topics that are of high value. Links of weight 6 are standard links and less valuable. So it makes less sense to build more links with a low value. But of course they shouldn’t be missing in your mix. Links should, however, be relevant to the topic in the broadest sense to the topic and be related to the main topic of your homepage.

Google rates links within a topic or within an industry as high quality. So it has to fit the topic of your website if you put a backlink where. So it doesn’t do much to accumulate backlinks in completely different genres because they could be counted as spam. It can therefore be rated as an unnatural link building. To the extent that small business owners do backlink building, it will likely have little impact on your Google ranking. Because as I said, it is important for you to get backlinks. Only then can you think more about the value. A little luxury problem. There are quite a few blog directories and business directories where you can leave a dofollow backlink with a fairly good value.

Build a network of high quality links. How do you rank compared to your direct competitors? Find out. Links deep links and subpages, links images and everything else that you can find on your homepage. Be creative and don’t just link your homepage or your legal notice again and again. Also link your company Facebook page, XING, Linkedin, Youtube etc. There should of course also be a link to your homepage.

There is also so-called link stacking (backlink stacking), in short, forwarding chains from one link source to the other up to your landing page. More like an advanced link building topic and not relevant here. You set a backlink. This backlink leads to another page with a backlink from you and only this last backlink leads to your homepage.

Complicated? A little. Less practical and confusing for beginners. In any case, you should choose do-follow pages with a high DA and then link them. In this guide, I did not go into relevant topics such as the link juice or valuable backlink sources with high DA. There are some SEO blogs that are solely concerned with building high quality and useful dofollow backlinks. Take a look at Youtube, there you will find some helpful tips and SEO gurus who will provide you with endless advanced information.

It takes a long time and is tedious to get used to. Therefore, in this consultation, I will not give any recommendations on fast and free backlink building. The establishment and regular expansion and maintenance of backlinks is part of the company’s continuous growth.

Yes, backlinks can also be lost over time. Posts or pages are simply deleted, your backlink is lost. Many link sources recommended in guidebooks can be out-of-date and out of date 1, 2 or 5 years later. Many portals simply no longer exist. So always keep your eyes open for new and additional link sources.

Rather concentrate on mastering the basics well and applying them properly. Most homepages are linked very poorly and do far too little link building. Here the absolute basics are actually the basic problem.

Do your homework. Checks for broken links and dead links regularly . So if you have linked a blog, a recipe, a video or another page in your blog and this source no longer exists at some point. That is also one of the basics. Just like the 404 error , i.e. pages that have been deleted or changed and are no longer displayed. Please clean something like this regularly.

Keywords and keyword analysis

That of course brings us to the next point, the keywords. Because without the right keywords nothing works in search engine optimization!

This point should be at the top of the list. Your entire strategy stands or falls with keywords. You absolutely have to do keyword analysis and deal with search engines and search terms for your industry. What are we looking for? What search volume is there for the individual terms and what phrases can you find in the search function in Google?

It’s best to take a piece of paper and write it down. Professionals also do this with an Excel spreadsheet. Especially if you optimize for a lot of words and phrases, it quickly becomes complicated and confusing. For your project and a few subpages, this is a bit overrated. A note is enough.

Use the Karma Keyword Tool to determine the search volume and the costs (on Google advertising) for your keyword. Even if you don’t use paid advertising yourself, you can still see what price clicks achieve for certain keywords and what highly competitive words are. This keyword tool is also quite useful for determining the number of clicks on certain words. Keyword-tools.org

Finding the right phrases and words for which your homepage should rank is a topic of its own. This certainly requires in-depth analysis of the entire search environment. Writing pages and blog posts should always only be done after a thorough keyword analysis. Otherwise, the article will hardly appear relevant for the search engine and end up in 30th or 50th place or even further back. It cannot be found without the correct content. That is the sad reality when you just start writing on blogs and websites. Unfortunately, you forget that because you are creative and want to put your thoughts on paper. If the post as a newsletter or blog post is only played out to subscribers, i.e. to your own target group and community, that’s fine. Then it doesn’t necessarily have to rank. But if you want to rank with the contribution, you have to proceed differently and plan strategically.

  • What does Google show me when I search for certain terms?
  • for which words is the competition already ranking?
  • what would someone look for if they didn’t know me?

The last point is difficult for niche sites, as special terms and less common keywords are used here. Often the search terms have little or no traffic.

It is often said: Some sites simply cannot generate leads because the search volume is too low. There is too little or too little demand for the products or the competition is already dominating the market and is more visible. In a highly competitive environment with terms with a high search volume and massive competition, the page will not rank either – unless you can, for example, narrow it down with geographical information.

Just ask yourself the simple question. How would I find someone that I met somewhere. I don’t know the name and I have no idea what the brand is called. The simplest brute force method would be to search for an activity + location and see if there is anything to be found about it. The next better option would be to search for generic terms and geographically larger areas, job title + district / state . If these keywords are all distributed on the homepage, the business entry appears in Maps and the search becomes more and more detailed and targeted.

So make it as easy as possible for the seeker to find you. The advantage is obvious. If certain words are searched for more and you use the same, different / better keywords than your competitors in your texts, your page will appear with a relatively high probability on page 1 on Google. If you are also active in a niche and there is not so much competition with the same or similar topics, you have a decisive advantage.

For example, if you offer local products and can include certain places or locations in your posts, the probability of being found increases very well. Consequently: It is important to also cover the entire search environment with terms.

If your on-page optimization and your overall SEO are better than that of your competition, you can break away from them relatively soon. Anchor texts and landing pages on Google are the key to success here. Then you may also be found for topics that make up only a small part of your actual work. A new surfer suddenly becomes aware of your site and then may get stuck.

It is important to use the keywords in the anchor texts (texts with links) as well as in the page title and in the url. In addition, the keywords should appear in the headline and sub-headings and in the ALT attribute of the images. It makes sense to create a separate page for each product / topic.

Writing a blog is all about writing. Optimizing content – but made easy

The question of how many words and thus also the content of the most important pages on your homepage is very interesting. Some website checkers assume a minimum length of 500 words, others say that articles and pages of 1000 words or more are rated as good. Blog posts and high-ranking articles are valid from 2,000 to 4,000 words.
What counts for google is how comprehensive the article is and how exactly the topic is dealt with. It’s just about good content . The more weighty your article is, including keywords, the more likely it will appear at the top of Google. This is how you get traffic to your homepage!
But since google tinkers with the algorithm again and again, all claims of such „advisors“ (such as this one) should always be treated with caution.
Write a separate subpage for each topic and pack the most important keywords for which this said page should rank in google in this subpage. With blogs it can often be observed that individual postings and subpages are found more easily in google than the start page itself. So write awesome subpages and let the search engine do the rest. Writes for people and not for the bots.
Advanced tip: The average sentence length should be 9 to 11 words. Deal with the readability index. Are your texts difficult or easy to read? How well is your text structured overall and which words should you remove or replace with others. For example, do not use any foreign words or technical terms unless you are a scientific blog. Make it easy for readers to understand you. Which sentences should you rewrite? Where do filler words fit in? Which sentences should you use to make 2 sentences, etc. These tools are ideal for everyone who is interested in optimization and would like to go through their texts in more detail.

Procedure for writing content and process

  1. Search in google: do a research on a topic you want to write about.
  2. Tip: in the Firefox settings there is something like the point ( New Private Window ). A new window opens here that ignores your personal search preferences and shows you Google as a neutral user perceives it. Enter a search term. Google will now show you search suggestions for this term. Here you can already see the first long tail keywords. These are terms that are often displayed together with a keyword: eg birthday … the most beautiful birthday … … ideas for your birthday … … birthday gifts … If you use similar phrases in your later post, these will later also be displayed as a long tail keyword and consequently, with a bit of luck and considering the strength of your competition, will lead to your own post.
  3. Check out the best posts on your desired topic. Collect keywords that you could incorporate. How extensive are the articles of others. Could your article be better / more extensive? Is he describing a different perspective on the subject?
  4. A good heading is essential. In addition to the heading, the meta information is particularly important. Both are shown in the search engine. They should show the reader immediately what this is about. It is therefore strategically important to bring the content of the article to the point. The headline should also include the most important keywords from the text.
  5. Various text analysis tools can be used to support text optimization. If the text is too difficult to read, the bounce rate on the homepage increases. If the sentences are too long and too nested, also. Keep it short and simple. The KISS principle should be taken into account in the sentence structure. Are these tools necessary? No. Sentences are always legible if they contain an average of 9-11 words across the entire contribution. Of course, a text should also be fluent and entertaining. Some things are also of literary value and should / may not be shortened or changed. Analyzing everything is also a bit overrated and too much. However, if the text should appear in important places on a homepage, for example on the homepage or the sales page, it is an option to take a closer look at it and possibly optimize it.
  6. Sub-headings, lists and paragraphs are also always a good idea to add value to the text.
  7. Pictures shouldn’t be missing either. These should definitely be optimized for homepages using tinypng, for example. Then they need less space (Kb) and less loading time. Space also means size. Cut images to the exact size you want in the post. This also saves loading time. Every picture also needs an ALT text or an ALT attribute. This is an image description. This means that images are also displayed in Google when the relevant search term is found. Indispensable.
  8. Everything ready! Then we put the article online and check with https://www.seobility.net/de/seocheck/  what the ranking looks like and whether everything was created correctly. The page should have reached at least 80%. You can then get the last% via links. The H1 heading, the metatext and keywords in the text are particularly weighted here. If everything looks good, then move on to the next step.
  9. Feed the Google Bot. To do this, paste the link to your post in Google Search Console and have it indexed. Your contribution should be found in the Google search in 24-48h at the latest. If this post is also well linked in the sitemap of your homepage, you could save yourself this step. If other posts refer to it and redirect the page to other subpages of your homepage, perfect. This means that there are some deep links internally and the page is well integrated. It is therefore not absolutely necessary to “inform” Google that there is something new, because your sitemap is regularly crawled for updates. If you are at the very beginning, it is definitely advisable and necessary to import everything into Search Console. Since the effort is low, you can keep it and benefit immediately from the update of the homepage.
  10. now it goes to link building. Spread the page on social media. Of course, this also brings the Google Bots passively on your trail. It just takes a little.
  11. Backlinks: Through your research, you have already discovered some relevant pages. With some you can also comment and thus leave a backlink. For example, if you have created a recipe and wrote a post about it, the next step is obvious. Comment on other blogs covering the same topic or recipe. But don’t advertise your site. When you comment, your name is automatically linked to your homepage. Here you should then insert sub-pages or the new page in question. Easy. Homepages that appeared at the top of your original search are therefore also considered to be of high quality for this topic. A link from such a page is also beneficial for you. Alternatively, you should definitely be on the lookout for valid backlink sources.
  12. Control: regular control is important. For example the Brokenlinkchecker but also avoiding double content. Keep an eye on the loading speed and don’t forget to optimize again and again. Google loves updates. So add something new to older posts. Makes it more extensive, links to new articles, etc. The motto is DO. Show Google that your homepage is always up-to-date.

Example of a landing page

This landing page is used to forward interested parties to your actual shop page. It could be a product page, for example.

Title: Buy Product url: ww w xyz. / buy-product

Heading H1: Buy a product

Keyword Buy Product, Text Text Text

Image: ALT (Keywords)

Wrong: you can buy our products <here> or <buy here>.

Only the word <here> or <buy here> is marked as the anchor text for the (shop) url. “Our products” does not describe a specific product and “our” could relate to any company. This designation would be absolutely worthless and poorly chosen. That doesn’t bring any success.

Correct: here you can <buy product> or <shop company> or <company buy product> or <order product>

How the name is chosen now depends on what keyword suggestions Google gives you in your search or for which keywords you want to rank. An entry in Google is usually sufficient. We’re looking for a product. Then a classic answer from the search engine could look like this. Google also gives you further suggestions for the keyword.

For these so-called long tail keywords , i.e. the phrases that appear in Google search when you enter a search term, there is also a useful tool: the long tail keyword finder . In addition to content, build important keywords into your texts. In addition to the Long Tail Keyword Finder, there are a few other useful tools directly from google itself.

Suggestion 1: product

Suggestion 2: buy_product

Suggestion 3: Buy_product_online

Suggestion 4: Buy_product_location

Suggestion 5: buy_product_shop

Suggestion 6: Make your own product

Suggestion 7: Product_homemade

It now depends on the purpose of your page project (subpage). What do you want to rank for? You can have a look at the competition on this topic right away.

Alternatively, this entry also works with the Google Ranking Check . However, you won’t get any keyword combinations there. But you can see how your side ranks to that of your competitors and where you are.

For you, the first 3 to 10 entries are important. The first 3 are the main competitors. You are still listed on the first page until entry 6-7. Keywords and names of these pages are relevant to google. Consequently, you should also use exactly these keywords and terms if you want to appear in the top results. Not others but exactly these keywords. The same keywords and no paraphrases or different. You can of course incorporate the additional keywords in the text. Then you will also rank for the other keywords with this page. Can then be checked quickly. Or you can build another page for the other keyword.

Suggestion 1: product. Probably wiki entries and definition pages come here. Do you want to create a definition page yourself? Then you are right there. A Wki entry is also worth gold and pays off if you have something to say on a topic.

FAQ and Q&A pages also make sense.

  • What is „term“?
  • What is the term used for?
  • etc.
  • With a little luck you will get a „rich snipet“ and be featured at the top. This means that you or your homepage provide the answer to a very specific question. Perfect!

Suggestion 2-5: sales pages. Here you have to see how the competition is doing. Use the same keywords and if possible create better websites and better links and on-page optimization and you’re right at the front. No witchcraft.

Suggestion 6-7: Recipes and do-it-yourself pages for blogs e.g.

  • Which keyword do I want to rank for?

This can be found out using keyword analysis. It makes sense to rank for a keyword but also to include additional words that describe the topic.

  • What is the purpose of my page?
  • Do I want to inform or sell?

There are:

  • Sales pages with call-to-act (shops, landing pages, category pages, product pages, newsletter subscription)
  • Info pages (glossaries): definitions, wiki
  • counselor
  • Q&A pages / FAQ pages
  • Lists

Topics for posts:

Target group: for beginners, for connoisseurs, for housewives, for men

Price: cheap product, cheapest product

Quality: high quality, best recipe, top product

Period: lose weight quickly, learn quickly, fast delivery, etc.

Occasion: for a birthday, for Christmas, Easter, …

Season: summer, autumn, seasonal …

Geography: place, country, region, continent …

It depends on the exact formulation of the heading!

Example: You write a post with 100 tips for losing weight quickly, but you don’t know which title is the best for it. You already have 3 good ideas.

  1. The 100 best tips for losing weight.
  2. Lose weight quickly with these 100 tips.
  3. 100 tips for losing weight quickly.

Google Long Tail Keyword: weight loss tips fast and healthy

Google throws you lose weight, tips and quick in combination and adds healthy as a 4th keyword. So it makes sense to include this keyword as well. If not in the headline, then at least in the text. The 3 best results could then look like this, rephrased to this example:

  1. Weight loss tips: 100 healthy ideas
  2. Lose Weight Fast 100 Healthy Tips
  3. Lose weight quickly and healthily: 100 tips

On the other hand, google also throws out: 100_tipps_limming. Here, too, you could rank with your 3 first formulations. It’s just a question of whether someone starts their search with exactly the number 100 or whether the word decrease comes first. Trying out can help here. Most of them will have published their contribution without these formulations and text gimmicks anyway. In the ranking check, however, you will have found that it does not rank or could rank better. Hopefully, they’ll improve their keyword, headline, and page title contribution and rank high.

If necessary, adjust the headline. Load the page into the Search Console again and have it re-indexed and then check again in the Google Ranking Check whether the ranking has visibly improved. Basically, all formulations can be used to get into the top 10 on Google. It also depends on your competition and how well this page is linked.

Basically, it’s not that difficult to rank with good placements. But you really have to take the time to research and look at the competition. If the topics are chewed through, there is tons of content and the competition is strong with high DA and PR, then you have little chance of ranking with a good position. But you still have the option of ranking geographically or in other terms: 100_tipps_abhaben _ + _ Austria. Changing the text something like 101 tips or 99 tips would be ways to improve your chances. But you have to find out yourself for the respective example and, if necessary, improve it.

Website Checker – where are your mistakes buried

As a small business owner, do you regularly use website checkers? Yes No Maybe? Do you do search engine optimization yourself and what about it?

This point comes into play now. You have created your homepage. Everything looks pretty. The homepage is online. If you search for you, the page will be found. All paletti, you think. You probably thought wrong. Ätsch.

So first of all: What can a website checker do and why do you need it? Website checkers are primarily intended for on-page optimization. If your own page is well structured (without major errors), it will also rank better in Google.

Yes, there are very many of them (Website Checker) and I claim that not a single tool can be used as the sole miracle cure. You should always get different opinions and use various checkers. That can never hurt. Each tool has a different focus and some of them contradict each other to some extent. So there are good and not so good tools for webmasters. There are certainly much better tools than those listed here. But for a small business owner or blogger who wants to optimize his homepage quickly and with little effort, this knowledge is sufficient.

Particularly interesting for small businesses: most of the tools are free of charge and, if necessary, can be improved with additional functions with a paid upgrade. SEO professionals certainly have a top strategy for this and know all the subtleties of what really matters and which tool is the best for the respective strategy. As I said, this SEO guide is intended for amateurs and people who want to optimize their own project quickly.

What do you use a website checker for? With such a tool, you can identify major errors in the code and then correct them. Or, in the simplest version, determine the need for optimization with the click of a button. Very easy and without much effort. Why is this still being done too little? It is a mystery to me.

Do you also take a look at other people’s sites? I mean competition analysis. Not only their homepage and the nice pictures but also the inner workings, so to speak. What do you do better than you and what can you learn from competitors? What can you learn and how could you improve your homepage? What can you do better than the others?

This affects both the text itself and the built-in keywords to achieve a better Google ranking.

At the beginning I would like to introduce you to 2 free website checkers:

https://seorch.de/

https://www.seobility.net/de/seocheck/

You can use these free tools to view any website or home page.

Seobility is particularly suitable for taking a closer look at individual subpages with regard to their structure.

Seorch scans your home page and some subpages and gives you an insight into the structure of your project.

I personally use Seobility to look at every newly written page and to optimize it again afterwards. Minor careless mistakes often happen without you noticing. Mistakes can be remedied just as quickly. Workload just 2 minutes.

You can use it to view your own pages as well as those of your competitors. Take a look at all the homepages that interest you.

Yes, you will quickly notice that the competitors are not always perfect either. Most homepages have minor to major errors. There will hardly be one that is 100% perfect. Most of the time it is enough to follow the 80:20 rule . Fix major mistakes first and everything that is easy and if you have the time and inclination, go into depth and do hard work.

Website checkers are not perfect, but they are helpful for troubleshooting. Here you will immediately be shown where there is room for improvement and what could / should be done differently, what may have been forgotten and what you should pay attention to.

These website checkers are free tools. There are also paid alternatives for those who make money with SEO or want to professionally advance their homepage. I only want to go into a few tools in this little guide and do not want to give a complete analysis of the topic. Because you can read into the matter in much more detail with each sub-item.

As far as these very fast analyzes are concerned, you can actually eliminate the grossest errors on your website with little expenditure of time. Be it:

  • headlines
  • Meta Description or
  • missing alt attributes for images.

In principle, these are most of the sources of error that people tend to forget about. For example, it also optimizes images with regard to their file size in Kb and their dimensions. This reduces loading time and makes your site faster on mobile devices. But more on that later.

You don’t even have to be very knowledgeable about SEO, a basic understanding is sufficient. I expect this understanding from people who run a blog, a homepage or a web shop. These are basically the basics of this work.

If you only understand the station, read something, educate yourself and you can clean up your homepage and get fit in a few minutes. This gives you points in the Google ranking and of course an advantage over your competition. And of course with the customer, because you will be found more easily!

Assess the current overall situation of your homepage

Our next tool is the nibbler . This tool is more of a help with an overall assessment of the situation. Where is there a need for action and where are you already well on your way? How many pages are linked to this homepage and what about the social media presence?
At Seitwert you can find out how your site is doing. Depending on how closely it is linked and how long it exists. Does it run flawlessly or there are technical deficits. Do you have social media presence? What can you improve? How are your competitors doing?
I would like to mention a few dry points here. It is becoming more and more important to optimize smartphones in the mobile view. There are also tools with which you can simulate your homegape on various devices .
Optimizes images and overall loading time of your homepage.
You can of course also test the pagespeed .
All of these tools and checkers are just a handful of countless others. I do not claim to be complete. If you dare to optimize content, code and other webmaster tasks, there are countless blogs and tutorials where you can get more tips and advice. This post is intended to provide a quick and easy introduction. You can make simple changes yourself in a few simple steps and without great prior knowledge.

All done! But how does Google rate my homepage?

You have built backlinks. Your site looks good and you want to know how your project is weighted by Google. There are also the key figures for page authority and domain authority and the MOZ rank .
The domain authority (DA) is usually not that interesting for the operator of a homepage. Many free domains and blogs (subdomains) can usually not have much influence on the DA. But the webmaster would like to know what exactly his website looks like. This is where the side authority (PA) comes into play. How well has the site been worked on, how well is it linked and how high-quality is its content.
The Moz Rank says how high quality the link sources are that refer to a website and how high this homepage is weighted in Google. It is said that the average website or blog should have a Moz rank of around 3. Of course, there are hardly any upper limits. However, it is becoming more and more difficult to generate sufficiently high-quality link sources, since it is a logarithmic scale. Going from 0 to 1 is not difficult at the beginning. The build-up from 1 to 2 is still relatively easy to manage. Average blogs range from 2 to 3. I’ve seen company sites that have existed for over 20 years and only have a Moz of 3.1. It is quite possible to build up a Moz value of 3.5 in 3 years. I did this with this blog without any prior knowledge. Professionals probably achieve much higher values in less time. The homepage of the national television (ORF) shows a MOZ of 6.4 and Der Standard (newspaper) a MOZ of 6.5. Google.com shows a MOZ of 9.9 in comparison. For the small business owner it will primarily be interesting how his homepage compares to his competitors within his branch and whether the page is found in comparison to the competition.
